What this office controls

A state representative votes on state law, state appropriations, and the legal powers available to local government. Statewide law can affect Asheville without being written for Asheville.

This district includes 0.38% of Asheville's 2020 Census population (about 364 residents). District 115 intersects the city only at its edge (about 364 Asheville residents) and represents mostly Buncombe County outside the city.

Side by side

The same three things for everyone: time in office, their own words, and how they voted when the minutes name who voted no. Motions aren't compared, because a mayor chairs the meeting and a challenger holds no seat.

    • Not in elected office now
    • Earlier: Buncombe County Commission, March 2020 to Dec. 2020

Not on this body now, so there are no votes to compare. Their own words are below.

    • In the NC House since Jan. 2023

Votes in the legislature; recorded roll calls on the tracked bills.

  • Anthony J. Penland

    In their own words

No statement on this found yet.

    Recorded split votes

Not on a voting body, so none.

  • Lindsey Prather

    In their own words

“Affordable housing isn't affordable housing if it's way out in the boonies and there's no bus line and you have to drive 30 minutes to get to a job and there's no grocery stores near you,”
Oct 5, 2026, read it in context

    Recorded split votes

None on this issue while serving.

Where they differed on housing

No split vote on this issue where the minutes show them on different sides.

"Not among the no votes" means the minutes name who voted no and this person isn't one of them. A unanimous vote names no one, so it isn't counted. Minutes before December 2024 aren't matched to members yet.
